All participants at our events are required to agree with the following code of conduct to help us achieve a safe and positive event experience for everyone.
Unacceptable behaviour includes intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory or demeaning conduct by any participant at our events or online communities including Twitter and other online media.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, race religion, disability, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact and unwelcome sexual attention.
If a participant engages in behaviour that violates this code of conduct, the event organisers will take the appropriate action, including warning or expulsion from the conference with no refund.
If participants have any concerns, inform a member of Software Acumen staff who will offer support in contacting the appropriate security and ensure required assistance is given.
Our events are not suitable for under 18s. We do not moderate content for this age group over and above this Code of Conduct and speakers may use language or references only suitable for an adult audience. Please contact us if you have queries about an under 18 at this event.
While we aim to provide an open, welcoming and professional event, as a general rule we accept our events are aimed at over 18 year olds. Language used by speakers may include some level of profanity and we do not moderate content outside of our Code of Conduct.
Speakers are free to question the existence of mythological creatures, poke fun at politics, and any manner of other things that may upset a parent and/or their child in this sort of environment. We also accept that a conference is not exactly an entertaining space for a minor.
Our staff are not trained in childcare, nor have they undergone the CRB check to offer childcare services at our events. We are unable to accept responsibility for any minors present at our events. We also accept that other participants may have their event experience impacted by minors present at our events.
However, we accept that life isn’t black and white and even best laid plans sometimes go awry.
Our Policy, with the above in mind, is to always help. However we can.
If you find yourself without childcare on a day you were due to attend our event, please get in touch. We have a small list of professional contacts we can put you in touch with and in some cases we may be able to help you work around the sessions you want to attend and the childcare you can arrange at short notice.
If you are a new mum and have constraints on how far you can be from your infant but you still want to attend our event, please do get in touch.
Final note: in some cases parents may need to have their children with them for very brief periods at the start or end of each day. You are welcome to have your children with you in communal/catering areas if this is the case but we are obligated to remind you they are your responsibility. Good kids are always welcome to come and grab a sweet or two at registration (good participants can too!).

A presentation and discussion of real-life (not theoretical) experiences of the application (or mis-application) of service design techniques. Case studies and experience reports include some discussion of lessons learned and an indication of how novel the work is.
Participants learn a new approach, tool or technology through using it to solve one or more practical exercises. Any software/hardware requirements are disclosed in the session description.
A session focused around some specific tool, technique or issue. Primarily led by the speaker, tutorials usually include some elements of interactivity or individual / group exercise.
An in-depth working session on a specific topic. May include paper presentations.
