About this Tutorial

We all know effective retrospectives are a key part of any successful agile team - or in fact any organisation for that matter, but most of the facilitation methods lend themselves to being face to face. During this interactive session I will go through some tips and tricks on how to make distributed retrospectives more engaging.

The session will cover:

  • culture: the difference where you are from and what you believe can have on what you value; used correctly this can have be a massive positive
  • inclusive collaboration: techniques for ensuring everyone gets a voice, including using more than the verbal channel
  • the 5 minute rule: the power of icebreakers and impact this has on the rest of the meeting
  • useful tips and tricks: a summary of retrospective ideas that work when distributed
  • useful tools: a few free online tools that can be used to help create an interactive environment
  • icebreaker games: a few to try with your teams

By the end of this session you will have some new ideas to try with your distributed teams as well as a couple of simple icebreakers to help with increased collaboration and input. Longer term it will increase your confidence in what is possible, even with a heavily distributed team.
