About the session

Theme: Transformation | Strategy | Product

A product operating model describes how an organisation intends to build products and services that users value while advancing its goals.

There’s a lot to it, encompassing aspects of organisation design, tech, ways of working, planning, research, design, delivery and operations, all intended to promote flow and use time and talent wisely.

Effective models are tailored to the organisation’s situation and aspirations; there’s no turn key solution. Success isn’t only about how good the model is, it's about introducing it, adapting it and the perennial challenges of change.

In this primer we’ll delve into:

why use a product operating model?
what makes a good model
what is (and isn’t) in it
how to introduce and evolve the model

Participant takeaways:

  • Understand what product operating models are and what they do, learn if/how they relate to other models, including target and dynamic operating models
  • Know why and when to use a product operating model, and the benefits and drawbacks
  • Understand how product operating models fit with other agile approaches
