About the session

Theme: Flow

A few months ago Neil’s son asked him how people solve Rubik’s Cubes. He had no idea, so they looked it up. It’s not too hard to learn - want to give it a go?

Understanding how solving works and considering different approaches is a useful intro to all kinds of algorithms - we'll talk about efficiency, trade-offs, and evaluation. It’s also a good example of a complicated, rather than complex, problem. Finally, it’s an incredibly satisfying fidget toy.

Participant takeaways:

  • Learnings about algorithms in general (how to design them, what makes a useful one)
  • Apply these to solving a cube: we’ll work through it together
  • Take away your own cube and sheet of instructions so you can carry on practising at home

This session:

  • Includes interaction
  • Has a cap of 40 participants
