About the session
Theme: Transformation | Legacy
Are you facing a legacy rewrite? This session is for you.
In a world where AI can generate software faster than ever, rewriting legacy systems can feel obvious. But legacy platforms often hold years of embedded knowledge, including subtle edge cases that cannot easily be recreated.
Blackdot’s team faced this challenge when moving a complex investigation platform from on-premise deployments to an SaaS model. On-premises caused long lead times for on-boarding B2B customers, and adopting a multi-tenant SaaS architecture required significant changes. A full rewrite was unavoidable, but the team isolated legacy components so the new platform could evolve independently while keeping their proven value.
Along the way, they adapted as the landscape changed, applying an agile approach and learning how AI can augment tactical work while leaving reasoned architectural thinking firmly in control.
Participant takeaways:
- Practical ideas for modernising complex systems where a full rewrite is necessary
- How to preserve valuable legacy knowledge
- How AI and an agile mindset can support tactical and strategic decisions without compromising architecture
