About the session

It might feel daunting sometimes to participate in a conference where every speaker seems to have a perfectly polished agile implementation.

Not all organisations have “cracked it” - This session will tell the story of a 177-year-old organisation’s agile journey so far, its context and systemic challenges, and some of the wins along the way.

Challenges faced include complex hardware interdependencies, distributed teams, the large-scale organisational structure, and the clash of non- and digital-first cultures, even as they continue to build and improve their world-class microscopy products.

Participant takeaways:

  • You are not alone if you are finding it challenging to keep up the momentum of change, especially in large or legacy organisations
  • Identify and acknowledge the cultural/mindset differences in different parts of the organisation, and make role models of the best behaviours
  • Find ways to incentivise good practices with empowerment at their roots
  • Be relentless with comms and feedback to keep up information, morale and momentum

Themes:

Agile transformation, Legacy systems, Culture, Change
