Love remote working but hate remote meetings? This session's for you. Remote working has some great features - from avoiding a nasty commute to connecting with a worldwide talent pool. But is it worth the price? Remote meetings are often boring and ineffective, leading to poor communication, misunderstandings, conflicts and broken work relationships. In this interactive session, you'll discover that it doesn't have to be like that. You'll learn some simple tweaks that can turn remote meetings into compelling, creative conversations.

Judy Rees

Judy Rees works with senior leaders, operational managers, teams, coaches and all kinds of “change professionals” to develop advanced communication skills. Her specialism is supporting highly intelligent and diverse teams to connect effectively, even when members rarely (or never) meet in person. As a former news journalist and media executive, she’s been working with geographically distributed teams since long before it became mainstream.
Her approaches have been designed to be effective both in person and remotely, and many of her training workshops happen via video conference calls.
She’s the co-author of the specialist bestseller Clean Language: Revealing Metaphors and Opening Minds, as well as a number of ebooks and online courses, including Virtual Leadership Secrets.

Steve McCann

Steve McCann has had a long and interesting international career involving management of and relationships with remote teams, some of them in the more complex and hostile parts of the world, in organisations and projects with more than just deadlines and profit margins at risk.
After a short commission in the UK military, Steve took up a role in the UN involving logistics and security work in the Balkans during the conflict, followed by 5 more domestic years in project and management consultancy, that saw the start of his professional training career. In 2003 he set up Safer Edge, a boutique risk advisory business working in humanitarian type security all over the world, often in challenging places with teams working at great risk.
Still the owner of Safe Edge, Steve handed over complete executive responsibility for the business to others in 2017 so that he could focus entirely on working with Judy Rees and developing what has become the Rees McCann Partnership.
